(This is the system overview. Command references: help learn,
help envision, help forget, help btwlist, help btw,
help btwjn, help skip.)
Dragons - and firelizards - cross Pern in three heartbeats of
icy nothing by going between. A beast can only jump to
places it has personally memorized.
Learning places:
learn <code> - memorize where you are now
learn <code> from <dragon> - take the image a dragon
is envisioning (dragons only)
envision <code> - hold a known place in mind
forget <code> - let a place fade
btwlist - everywhere you can go
Going:
btw - jump to the place you envision
btwjn <dragon> - join an airborne dragon, no code needed
skip - between and straight back (Threadfall!)
The code is your own quick-ref: over Southern Weyr you might
learn SW or learn souweyr.
# subtopics
## dragons and the sky
A dragon must be aloft - in a sky room - to learn a place or
to go between, so dragon jump points are always skies; land
through normal exits. Riders use all of these commands
directly; they act through your lifemate. To come along on a
jump you must be mounted (see the next subtopic).
## mounting up
mount <dragon> climbs aboard (from solid ground - no
leaping on in midair; dismount likewise wants land under
you). A dragon's rider may always mount; anyone else needs
mount/invite <person> from the rider or handler. Dragons
carry any number of passengers.
Astride, you're still in the room - look, talk, pose as
always - but you travel with the dragon: through exits and
between alike. If you control the dragon (rider or handler),
just type the exit and the dragon flies it, everyone aboard;
other passengers go where the dragon wills. Bare mount
shows who's astride what.
## firelizards
Firelizards are small enough to pop between from anywhere,
ground rooms included, and memorize any spot. Drive the flit
itself: cdzair learn kitchen, cdzair btw - the cd
prefix tells the game which flit is meant. Firelizard folk
cannot learn ... from others, though: trading images
takes a dragon's mind on both ends.
## builders
Mark a sky room with roomstate sky while in it. Skies are
ordinary rooms - describe them, bind their weather - reached
by flight exits from the ground.
