Description
Mirelith is a study in gold, though no single shade can quite claim her. Rose-gold warms her face and throat, flowing into pale champagne across her chest and belly before deepening through antique and old gold along her shoulders and back, with touches of burnished brass and bronze lending depth to her otherwise luminous hide. The colors mingle like molten metal rather than forming distinct patches, giving her an almost calico-like quality that shifts with the light; her broad wings pale toward white-gold at their edges, their translucent membranes taking on a blush of rose when sunlight catches them. A single sweep of deeper rose-gold curves asymmetrically across her muzzle and climbs toward one eye, making her already large, faceted eyes seem larger still. Normally vivid green, they shimmer through turquoise, emerald, yellow, and gold with her moods, flashing crimson when anger takes her. Graceful and fine-boned for a gold without sacrificing her powerful breadth, she moves with an almost feline economy, capable of going utterly still when something catches her interest before unfolding into fluid motion. Her expressive headknobs and long, restless tail betray much of what her enigmatic expression conceals, while the natural upward curve of her mouth leaves her perpetually seeming on the verge of an amused smileāas though she has noticed something everyone else has missed.
Hatching record
Hatched from The Way Down is Sometimes Up Egg — A warm, softly luminous egg rests beneath a shell of pale champagne and rose-gold, its colors deepening into antique gold along one side as though something beneath the surface has turned toward the light. The hues mingle in curious, shifting swirls rather than settling into any sensible pattern, with a darker bronze-gold crescent curling across the shell like a reflection seen through rippling glass. In certain light, the palest portions seem almost white, while the deeper golds take on a faint coppery warmth. It is an egg that seems somehow different from every angle, as though there might be another pattern waiting on the side one cannot quite see.
